General information for educator roles

Are you an upcoming teacher candidate looking to gain experience? Or are you looking to gain experience in the field of education and would like to teach a course about career discovery? If so, this is a great opportunity for you! 

Time Commitment: 

  • 3 Day Training in early January  

  • 11 Saturdays from 10:30-3:30 PM | February 4th, Feb 11th, February 18th, March 4th, March 11th, March 25th, April 1st, April 8th, April 22nd, April 29th, May 6th

  • No outside meetings / expectations outside of those time frames - we value self-care

 

Your Role: 

  1. Develop a unique curriculum of 10 lessons for either 9th/10th/11th/or 12th grade, depending on your placement

  2. Instruct a group of 15 students during each period

  3. Cultivate a community in your classroom focusing on students’ social and emotional growth 

  4. Be open and receptive to feedback  

 

Qualifications: 

  1. Eager to learn and teach! / No prior experience is needed as long as you are passionate about the work! 

  2. College Juniors and Seniors strongly encouraged to apply 

  3. Responsible, attentive to details, organized, and able to engage students in meaningful and creative work 

  4. Preferred - Relevant expertise and knowledge. Background on career exploration and development, as well as creating a career portfolio.

 

You will gain: 

  1. Fundamental experience working with students in grades 9-12 

  2. A rewarding career experience supporting underserved students

  3. Internship Credit (working with your host university) 

[Remote] Career Discovery Educator

Description: We are currently looking for (4) Career Discovery Educators to teach in our Pathway to Success Program. Educators are free to build their own curriculum to guide their course and are given flexibility over their teaching style. 


About the Course: The Career Discovery course gives students an opportunity to explore different careers within our society. Students will learn about resources to guide their career choices, take personality/career assessments to guide their thinking, and will develop a career portfolio that will help them develop an understanding of the profession they want to go through. Students will also work on different projects that will aid their career exploration based on their grade level.

[Remote] LEADERSHIP, STRENGTH, & POWER Educator

Description: We are currently looking for (4) Leadership, Strength, & Power Educators to teach in our Pathway to Success Program. Educators are free to build their own curriculum to guide their course and are given flexibility over their teaching style. 

 

About the Course: The Leadership, Strength & power course gives students an opportunity to develop their leadership abilities, identify their professional and personal strengths, and align their values to the power they hold in the world. Students will learn about different leadership styles, ways to develop their leadership confidence within our world, and will develop a leadership portfolio that includes a resume, a vision statement, and other resources to guide their leadership development. 

[Remote] College readiness Educator

Description: We are currently looking for (4) College Readiness Educators to teach in our Pathway to Success Program. Educators are free to build their own curriculum to guide their course and are given flexibility over their teaching style. 

 

About the Course: The College Readiness Course prepares students to learn about the ins and outs of higher education. Based on their grade level, students will learn about important topics about the college journey such as navigating financial aid, applying for scholarships, writing their college essay and many other topics. Younger students will learn what “going to college” means and will develop an understanding of the way higher education works. At the end of the program, students will strengthen their college portfolio and be ready to either apply or continue learning more about it. 

[Remote] WELLNESS EMPOWERMENT Educator

Description: We are currently looking for (4) Wellness Educators to teach in our Pathway to Success Program. Educators are free to build their own curriculum to guide their course and are given flexibility over their teaching style. Your wellness curriculum could be set up as activities, modeling how to build a self care plan, or anything else you see best fit!
 

About the Course: The Wellness Empowerment course gives students the opportunity to explore different aspects of wellness and self-care. Students will engage in activities to understand their emotions, participate in group based discussions, and learn about the importance of well-rounded wellness (physically, emotionally, and mentally -some may value spiritually as well-). At the start of the semester, students will build a self-care plan and keep track of their progress throughout.

[Remote] LEARNING COACH

Would you like some entry-level experience in a classroom setting? Would you like to become a college counselor or work with students in the near future?  If so, this is a great opportunity for you! 


Description: We are currently looking for (12) Learning Coaches to support our classrooms this spring. Learning coaches act as teacher assistants, supporting logistical needs and also students’ social and emotional development.
